About the photographer

I have been interested in photography for most of my life. Among my early interests, living in rural Connecticut, was landscape photography. My subjects were old barns, abandoned homes, waterfalls, mountains and lakes.  During my college years my subjects included historic buildings, including old churches, and motorsport photography.

I moved to New York City to attend New York University Graduate Institute of Film and Television.  The big city was a far cry from my rural roots.  I was mesmerized by the crowds, bustle, and structure...man in conflict both externally and psychologically.  I experienced new inspiration.  My new influences came from filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman, Michelangelo Antonioni and their incisive cinema photographers who could interpret deep emotional states of mind through their photographic compositions and lighting. I began to explore photography's ability to examine the inner life.

The Passion of Mary suite of photographs presented here has inspired me to renewed spiritual and artistic growth and I am pleased to share it with you.
